Creating an event

The four steps of a new event, what each one asks, and where every other setting lives afterwards.

Go to Events and press + New event. There are four short steps, and nothing is final: the event is saved as a draft as you go, and everything can be changed later.

  1. What and when. The name, where it is, and when it starts and ends. Tick Runs until I close it for a season series or a rolling programme with no fixed end. Tick the squad box if it is a training programme rather than a race; see Squads and training programmes.
  2. Who enters. One class where everyone enters the same thing, or several classes or fleets, each with how many people go in one boat. Choose whether only entrants can see the noticeboard and entry list, and whether to shorten names on the public entry list.
  3. What it costs. The entry fee, or 0 for a free event. Whether entrants may spread the cost over months, and a discount for entering several people at once.
  4. What you ask entrants. Their name and sail number are always collected. Remove any suggested question you do not need; you can add more later.

Everything else is in Settings

The cover photo and colours, who can see the pages, how long entrants' details are kept, links to your notice of race, Stripe and the rest are in the event's Settings, which has every field. Type into Search settings in your own words - “sail number”, “GDPR”, “refund” - and it takes you to the right section.

Save settings saves the main sections. Appearance has a Save of its own, so press that one after changing a photo, logo, colour or font.

Finding your way round an event

Every event has the same menu: Overview; Set up (Settings and Entry form); Entries; Noticeboard (Posts, Results files and Forms); and On the day (Stations, Release, Tallying and Demo mode).
