Releasing and holding fleets

The beach master decides which fleets may launch. A held fleet cannot be tallied out, so the slip cannot let them go by mistake.

Each fleet is either released to launch or held ashore. The Beach Master station shows a row per fleet, green for away and red for held, with Release and Hold on each and Release everything and Hold everything for all of them at once.

The race officer can do the same from Release in the event's admin, where each fleet reads Go or Remain.

What holding does

• A held fleet cannot be tallied out. The tally phone refuses the scan, turns red and sounds a siren: do not launch this boat.
• It does not stop anyone physically. Somebody still has to tell the sailors, on the radio or in person, as you normally would.

If the beach master and the race officer disagree, sort it out on the radio rather than pressing harder. The screens refresh every few seconds.
