Safeguarding and acceptable use
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Worried about a child? NSPCC helpline 0808 800 5000. Childline, for young people themselves, 0800 1111. Think you have been scammed? Action Fraud 0300 123 2040. None of these reach WeMuster, and WeMuster cannot respond in an emergency.
WeMuster is software that clubs use to take entries, collect payments and keep a roll call. The club running an event decides what it asks for and who sees it. WeMuster decides what the software allows, and acts when a page on the platform is being used to harm someone.
Reporting something
Every public page has a "Report this page" link at the bottom. It needs no account and takes about thirty seconds. Reports about a child at risk or an apparent scam are flagged urgent and looked at first. Reports can also be emailed to hello@we-muster.com, anonymously if preferred.
Children and young people
- Published entry lists can be shortened to an initial and surname, so a child's full name is not published against a boat, a venue and a date. Clubs are asked to use it for youth and junior events.
- Entries for under-18s are made by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for the information provided.
- Entrant details are visible to the club running the event and to WeMuster as its software provider. They are never published, sold or used for advertising.
- Organisers building a form that collects children's details are prompted to ask only for what they need and to set a retention period.
- There is no messaging between participants, no public comments and no profiles. There is nowhere on the platform for a stranger to contact a child.
Protecting yourself from scams
- WeMuster never asks for card details in a form question. Real payments always happen on a Stripe checkout page at a checkout.stripe.com address, after you press the button.
- Money goes to the club, not to WeMuster. Payments are taken into the club's own Stripe account.
- Every public page says which organisation runs it. If the name is not the club you meant to enter, stop.
- WeMuster will never email asking for a password, a payment or bank details.
- Refunds are the club's. If a club will not respond, tell WeMuster and talk to your card provider.
What organisers must not do
Asking for card numbers, security codes, PINs or banking passwords; pretending to be a club, business or person you are not; collecting information about children beyond what running the activity needs; publishing personal details without a lawful reason; using entrant details for anything other than the event they entered; taking money for an event you have no intention of running. Any of these will get an account suspended, usually without warning.
