How the day runs

The five stations - registration desk, tagging, beach master, tallying and safety lead - and how they fit together.

On the day, WeMuster answers one question: who is still on the water? Tallying is the count of who has gone out and who is back. Everybody taps a band as they launch and again as they land, and the safety lead watches the number still out until it reaches zero.

  1. The Registration Desk signs people in as they arrive, and adds anyone who turns up without having entered.
  2. Tagging, beside the desk, gives each person their wristband.
  3. The Beach Master releases each fleet when it is safe to launch.
  4. Tallying at the slip taps everyone out, then back in as they land.
  5. The Safety Lead watches the number still out until it reaches zero.

Each one is a station: a phone, tablet or laptop opened straight into that one job by a link or a QR code, with no sign-in. A small event can have one person holding two, or use only the ones it needs. See Setting up stations.

Every station has a ? button in its top corner that explains it in plain words. A volunteer handed a phone can work out what to do without asking.

WeMuster is an aid to the roll call, not a safety system. It tells you who to go and look for; it never tells you somebody is safe. Keep your usual safety cover, and a paper backup of the count.
