Running a junior or youth event
The settings that matter for children: shortened names, entries by a parent, fewer questions, and reporting a concern.
- Shorten names on the public entry list, so a child shows as “J. Ryan” rather than a full name next to a boat, a venue and a date. See Who can see an event's pages.
- Entries for under-18s are made by a parent or guardian, who confirms they are entitled to give the details.
- Ask only for what you need, and set how long it is kept. See Closing an event and deleting data.
- Give coaches and volunteers the Helper role, which shows the entry list but no medical notes or contact details. See Giving someone access to one event.
- Have a parent or guardian sign each child on at the registration desk.
There is no messaging between entrants, no public comments and no profiles. There is nowhere on WeMuster for a stranger to contact a child.
Reporting a concern
Every public page has a Report this page link at the bottom. Reports about a child at risk are flagged urgent. Our safeguarding page sets out how reports are handled and who to call in an emergency.
